What is Kotha Janta about?
Sirish (Allu Sirish) is a program director and Suvarna (Regina) is a creative director of Telugu Y channel. Both of them are ambitious and selfish in their careers and lives as well. Rao Ramesh, the channwl head identify their talent and bring them together in to a team to up the channel TRPs. After intial success,
A business man (Posani Krishna Murali) who plans to start another TV Channel offers a lucrative deal to Sirish but on the condition that he should come along as a team with Suvarna. Following this deal, the changes that come in their life and career due to their attitude and the how they finally end up successful in love and career is the rest of the film.
How did they perform?
Sirish just continued where he left in Gauravam. There is no ease in his acting, body language or expression. Only saving grace is his good voice and his looks fitting for the character. Regina in contrast came up with an excellent performance. She is lively in the first half and is good in emotional scenes in the second half.
Rohini is brilliant as a dotting mother. Posani is good at his usual self. As in every Maruthi film, Sapathagiri entertains very well. Rest of the characters are all okay.
Technical Performances:
The story line of the film is not any new but Maruthi’s treatment is good. The first half is good with some decent comedy but things look a bit forced in the second half. In order to make up for Sirish’s poor acting skills and stamina, he tried to insert some unnecessary commercial elements which did not add any value to the film. In fact all of them have slowed down proceedings in the second half. On the other side, he should be appreciated for the witty dialogues and good screenplay.
Young music director JB came up with a promising album for the film but the placement of songs is not effective. The rerecording is decent. Richard Prasad who got brownie points for Swamy Ra Ra excelled once again in the film. His work is one of the major highlights of the film. Geeta Arts Production Values are too good as usual.
Final Say:
Kotha Janta is that kind of film which do not offer anything new in terms of story. But it is a simple time pass kind of film for some good comedy here and there. Watch it if you have nothing to do in your weekend!
