Ravi Teja (Telugu: రవి తేజ; born 26 January 1968 as Bhupatiraju Ravi Shankar Raju) is an Indian film actor in Telugu Cinema. He won the Best Actor Nandi Award for the film Neninthe in 2008.
Personal Life
Ravi Teja alias Bhupatiraju Ravishankar Raju was born in Jaggampeta, East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. He is the eldest of three sons to his father, Bhupatiraju Rajgopal Raju, a pharmacist, and mother Rajyalaxmi Bhupatiraju, a home maker. Both his brothers are now actors as well. Before starting his career in Tollywood, Ravi Teja spent most of his childhood inJaipur, Delhi, Mumbai and Bhopal. Later on he moved to Vijayawada along with his family and joined Siddhartha Degree College to pursue his Bachelors in Arts. Half way through his graduation, he left for Chennai on 2 October 1988, to begin a career in film.Basics on Ravi Teja Ravi Teja’s real name is Bhupatiraju Ravishankar Raju. He was a naughty child who used to set fire to couches to enact action scenes. He tried to run away from home to become an actor in Bollywood when he eleven years old.
He studied at N.S.M Public School and Siddhartha Degree College.
He is married to Kalyani. They got married in 2002 and had a daughter Mokshadha in 2003 and a son Manit in 2006.
Ravi Teja worked in movies like Aaj Ki Goondaraj, Premaku Velayara and Criminal. He got a chance to work as an assistant director for Ninne Pelladatha. In 1999, he got a chance to work as the main hero in Nee Kosam.
He acted in secondary roles in movies like Annayya and Ammayi Kosam. He became a top hero with hits like Appu, Idiot and Chanti. Vikramarkudu and Krishna were his biggest hits. Despite a few flops like Baladoor and Neninthe he is still a successful actor.
Early Career
His interest in films brought him into the film industry. In the beginning, he worked in both television and films as an assistant director but continued in feature films after that. He worked in several Bollywood as well as Tollywood projects including Prathibandh, Aaj Ka Goondaraj, and Criminal (1994 film). He managed to do a few small time roles in Bollywood as well. He acted as one of Chiranjeevi’s friends in Aaj Ka Goondaraj. Ravi Teja joined Krishna Vamsi as an assistant director for Ninne Pelladatha and played a small role in the film. Krishna Vamsicast him as one of the lead actors in Sindhuram. After that he played second lead in films like Pattukondi Chuddam, Premaku Velayara, and Padutha Thiyaga. His first film as a lead actor was Neekosam (1999), directed by Srinu Vaitla.
